RPF reiterates ban on Cong

Imphal, April 22: In connection with the ban imposed on the Congress candidate, RPF has today warned the Congress party not to send any of its election agents or set up camps at any of the polling station during the Inner Parliamentary elections which has been scheduled on April 26.Talking to media persons at an undisclosed place today after setting ablaze the Congress flags, festoons and posters confiscated from Congress Bhavan yesterday, a spokesman of the RPF informed that confiscation of posters, festoons and posters from the Congress Bhavan yesterday was carried out by an RPF's STAFORCE team on receiving specific information that election meetings were being conducted regularly inside the Bhavan.

Stating that none of the Congress workers would be allowed to campaign or attend meetings in connection with the upcoming Inner Parliamentary polls, the spokesman said that all Congress workers would be prevented from entering the Congress office till April 26.He also warned that severe actions would be taken up against all the Imphal East Dist Committee Congress Committee's active workers if they fail to stop campaigning or clarify on the matter immediately.

Dr T Meinya's private residence fired upon: Unidentified gunmen fired several rounds at the residence of Congress (I) candidate Dr T Meinya at Khumbong Joypur with sophisticated weapons this evening at around 3.30, said sources.

According to reports received from the police, the unidentified gunmen came on a Bajaj Pulsar and carried out the attack at the Minister's private residence.
