Imphal, January 21 2010: Alleged members of the UKLA (MC) planted a bomb at the residence of the UDC of IFCD, Dolaithabi Barrage division I, in connection with an annual tax demand of Rs 5 lakhs at Hiyangthang Maning Leikai.

The UDC is identified as Moirangthem Dolen.

To condemn the act of planting the bomb, a public protest demonstration was held at the community hall at Hiyangthang Maning Leikai by the Hiyangthang Apunba Meira Paibi Lup.

According to Moirangthem Dolen, he received a demand note of Rs 5 lakhs on the letter head of UKLA (MC) on December 21 at his residence.

Maintaining that he is just a petty Government official, struggling to repay a bank loan as well as to run the family, Dolen said that Rs 5 lakhs is way beyond his means.

Since he is not in a position to cough up such a huge amount, Dolen appealed to the organisation to withdraw the demand note and to live in amicably together.

As the demand for Rs 5 lakhs could not be honoured, a letter warning him of dire consequences along with a bomb was found packed in a plastic bag and planted at his gate yesterday, said Dolen.

The bomb was retrieved by a team from Wangoi police.

Meanwhile a dharna was also held to protest the twin bomb blasts at Naoremthong near the residence of DGP Y Joykumar on January 19 at about 10 pm.

Two people were injured in the twin blasts.
