Imphal, December 19 2009: Taking strong exception to violent activities and killing of non-locals at Chingmeirong Kabui Khul, local Meira Paibis staged a protest demonstration today.

The protest demonstration staged under the aegis of Chingmeirong Women Society used placards which read as "Stop killing innocent persons", "we condemn killing of innocent persons", "we condemn senseless killing" etc.

Speaking to media persons at the sideline of the demonstration, Shimreiphy Daimei decried that acts of violence and killings committed at Chingmeirong Kabui Khul where different communities have been living together peacefully have caused serious disturbance to tranquillity of the village.

At least seven persons including non-locals have been killed in the village since 1998 .

Questioning motive behind committing brutal acts at the peaceful village, Shimreiphy appealed to all concerned to own and clarify the killings.

One Tangkhul man and a Meitei were killed in the village in 1998 .

One Kabui was killed in 2006 followed by another Liangmei man in 2008 .

Three persons including one Tangkhul and two non-locals have been killed in the village this year, she said.
