Imphal, March 18: Though the BJP had unilaterally decided to field its candidates in the two Parliamentary seats without consulting the other partners of the DPA, the party is set to approach the constituent partners of the Opposition bloc to extend their support to the BJP candidates in both the Inner and Outer seats.

Speaking to newsmen at the BJP's office after his return from New Delhi today, the State unit president of the BJP, Th Chaoba said that the BJP is confident of pocketing the two seats in the State and added that the party will bag anything between 12 to 14 seats in the North Eastern region.

For the Outer, the BJP has already announced the name of P Loli Adanee while for the Inner it will be Th Chaoba.

It is learnt that Th Chaoba is the only State unit president to contest the election in the North East this time.

To a question on the theme the BJP would concentrate in its campaign, Chaoba said his party will expose the utter failure of the SPF Government to control corruption as well as the misutilisation of funds pumped in by the Centre for developmental works.

The party would also highlight the achievement of the BJP led NDA Government at New Delhi, he continued.

A meeting will be held on March 20 to discuss the election campaigning for the Outer seat, informed Chaoba.

The meeting which will be attended by members of the executive committee, district presidents/secretaries and Mahila Morcha members will decide the date to kick start the party's election campaign.

Accusing the State Government of totally failing to control the law and order situation, Chaoba said that security personnel have been killing suspects after arrest because of the immunity provided by the Armed Forces Special Powers Act.

Till date the State Government has not asked the Centre to lift the AFSPA which is against the interest of the people, he said and added that the Government has also not done anything to improve the law and order situation.

Chaoba also reminded the newsmen that the Khaidem Mani who was the president of the DRPP and its two MLA Dr Th Meinya and N Biren had promised the people that they would work for the revocation of the AFSPA.

They have now reneged on their earlier assurances and have now joined the Congress, he said.
