Kasom Khullen rally alleges AR violate ceasefire

Imphal, August 17 2009: Hundreds of people today marched a rally at Kasom Khullen in Ukhrul district against the killing of NSCN(IM) cadres by the troops of Assam Rifles at Shakok village under Phungyar police station on August 12 last.

The rally organized by the Naga Aze Longphang alleged that the incident has violated the ceasefire ground rules agreement between the Government of India and NSCN(IM) which in turn broken the peace and tranquility of the people of the area.

The mass rally started from Phungnam ground of Kasom Khullen was participated by students of Hills Academy, Khamlang, Good Shepherd English School Kasom Khullen high School and villagers of 32 villages of the sub-division apart from members of the Shanaolong Pastor Forum.

Placards with slogans, "We want peace not war, stop killing we want peace, Assam Rfiles, breaker of cease fire, we want Indo-naga peace talk solution were displayed during the protest.

Speaking in the event, Chairman of the Kasom Area Development committee, Robertson Jojo condemned the clash the erupted between the AR and NSCN(IM) alleging it had broken the ceasefire ground rules.

He also said that the incident suffered a lot to the villagers of Sakok and Kota and demanded early solution on the AR-NSCN(IM) impasse existing there and also appealed to respect the ground rules of the ceasefire agreement.

He also hinted of launching agitations in association with the civil organisations based in the state if there could not bring an end to the impasse and any untoward incident arising out of the agitations should be the sole responsibility of the government and Assam Rifles authorities.

He also strongly condemned the state cabinet decision of deployment of IRB and police commandos in hill areas of the state and announced that people of the area will stand against the government decision stating that government decision will amount to break the peaceful existence of the people.

TNAL, chairman, Robertson said the attitude of the AR in the recent incident is a kind of state sponsored terrorism and killing people after rounding up is strongly condemned.

Secretary, TNAL, Janaho who also spoke on the occasion alleged that the cadres of NSCN(IM) were killed by the last by the troops of Assam Rifles on August 12 last after they surrendered to the AR and asked whether the AR are sending there to kill surrendered people.

The act amount to looking down minorities, he added.
