Imphal, April 14: In two different incidents, two youths have been shot dead by Imphal East commandos and troops of 32 AR at two different locations in Imphal East district last night.

The first incident took place at Thambalkhong Sabal Tongba Gourachand Leirak under Porompat police station at about 6.35 pm.

It is reported that one 9 mm pistol, an Indian made hand grenade and a mobile phone handset were recovered from the youth slain by the combined force of Imphal East commandos and troops of 32 AR.

Meanwhile, the deceased youth has been identified as Takhellambam Nabakishore (28) s/o Thambou of Ngaikhong Khullen Awang Leikai.

According to information received from family members, Nabakishore was arrested by Bishnupur commandos about five years back on the charge providing shelter to UG cadres.

After that, he had been running a farm to sustain the livelihood of his family.

Some five months back, he eloped with a girl from Moirang.

At about 1 pm yesterday, he went to visit the girl, they conveyed.

The other victim shot dead by Imphal East commandos at Khurai Ningthoubung has been identified as RK Johnson alias Bomb alias Meetei alias Nongpok (27) son of RK Mombisana.

The body is still lying at RIMS morgue.

One 9 mm pistol and four live rounds were recovered from the possession of the slain individual, informed police sources.

The deceased wore a blue T-shirt and blue jean pant and canvass shoes of black colour.

Grenade found: A hand grenade was found this morning while a drain was being cleared near the house of Dr Suren at Lairikyengbam Leikai.

On the other hand, some unidentified persons placed a hand grenade at the Thangmeiband Watham Leirak residence of Manipur Tribal Development Corporation EE Khundrakpam Keshorjit this morning.

The grenade was later retrieved by police.
