BJP workers abducted, Adanee detained, warned

Imphal, April 14: Unidentified gunmen abducted two active workers of BJP candidate in the Outer Loli Adanee at gun point today at about 2 pm at Chandel proper.

The workers were campaigning for the BJP candidate when they were abducted, said sources.

Election in the Outer is scheduled to be held on April 20.The two workers are residents of Punanamei village and Makhan village of Senapati district.

They are yet to be traced till the time of filing this report.

In another incident armed men stopped the BJP candidate Loli Adanee and his supporters at a spot in between Lamlaba and Pollong village in Tamei sub division and warned them against campaigning on April 12, said sources.

The supporters were on their way to attend an election meeting of the party at Tamenglong.

The candidate and the supporters were accompanied by the security escort when the armed men stopped them.

The armed men strongly warned the candidate as well as the supporters against campaigning for the BJP.

In connection with the incident, the BJP election campaign committee has lodged a written complaint to the Returning Officer at Imphal today.
