Moreh survivor Tomba reunited with family

Imphal, June 12: Arambam Tomba of Khurai Chaithabi Leirak, who was believed to have been among the six persons killed by unidentified gunmen at Moreh on June 9, arrived at Imphal today and was reunited with his family members at the office chamber of Imphal West police SP, Clay Khongsai.

The survivor was reunited with his family members in the presence of MLAs O Joy, Dr Ng Bijoy, RK Anand, T Mangibabu, representatives of the JAC today a little after 4 pm.

It was an emotional moment as Tomba broke down on seeing his wife and children inside the office chamber of the SP, said a source.

The survivor is however being kept at the Imphal West police station for security reasons, said the source.

Earlier it was thought that Tomba was among the five persons from Khurai killed in the strike by the unidentified gunmen.

On the other hand police had to fire tear gas shells as the bandh supporters threatened to go out of control at Lamlong bazar, setting tyres ablazed in the middle of the road.

To control the situation, police fired a large number of tear gas shells to disperse the crowd.

Two persons were injured in the crackdown launched by the police.
