Imphal, August 09: A joint meeting hosted this morning by Manipur Olympic Association at its conference hall and participated by representatives of civil societies and student bodies resolved to sustain peaceful agitation against the exclusion of Laishram Monika Devi from the Beijing Olympics squad.

Apart from the meeting strongly condemning 'inreasonable delay' in sending Monika Devi to the Beijing Olympics it has been resolved to persist with sit-in-protests at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex till the weightlifter from manipur leaves for the Olympic Games.

Moreover, an appeal has been made to all clubs, meira paibis, business community, traders, women vendors of Ima Keithel, transporters ect to cease work tomorrow and participate/stage in sit-in-protests at their respective places/locations.

Medical and essential services have been exempted from the agitation call, said an MOA release.
