Body, killers brought to town

Lamka, June 09 2009: The dead body of a 58 year old man identified as Ibochou, husband of Ngaihkhanman of Torbung Bangla here was taken to the district hospital morgue here by the local police after retrieving it from Tuilakzang village in Singngat sub-division, reports our correspondent.

Ibouchou, according to sources was thrashed to death by two teenagers allegedly over country liquor on Sunday night at his hamlet in a paddy field near Tuilakjang village.

A police team led by SDPO Churachandpur Lalminlen Misao, MPS which went to the interior village to retrieve the dead body also arrested the teenager duo who were accused of the murder and identified them as Pauthansang, 20 son of Khanlianpau of Sinzawl and Hauminsang, 16 son of Dongchinthang of Tuilakzang.

Ibochou was left behind in their hut on Sunday evening while two of his friends went to plough the field, said a source.

It was around 45 pm when the duo arrived to inquire about a country made liquor, they said in their initial confession.

An altercation ensues in the process leading to the duo hitting the old man with timber bleeding him severely.

Later when friends of the old man arrived, they found him already soaked in blood.

They then sought the help of Tuilakjang villagers, who then help them to carry till their village but Ibochou had already succumbs to his injuries on the way.

The district magistrate has reprimanded the duo in police custody until June 14 while the dead body is still awaiting post-mortem at the district hospital here.
