Two KCP (MC) suspects slain

Imphal, October 08 2008: A combined force of Imphal East police Commandos and 39 Assam Rifles gunned down two suspected cadres of the proscribed KCP (MC) during an encounter at Moirang Kampu Awang Leikai under Porompat Police Station late evening today.

Two pistols and 52 copies of demand notes have also been reportedly recovered from the possession of the two slain UG suspects.

The shot out occurred at around 6.30 pm just opposite to the sacred site of Umang Lai Purit Paraba in Moirang Kampu Awang Leikai located to the north of Khewa bridge along Tinsid Road.

According to police report, based on specific information the combined force rushed to the area when four unidentified gunmen opened fire at the approaching security personnel and tried to flee.

The combined force retaliated and killed two of them who are suspected to be members of KCP (MC) while the other two managed to escape under the cover of darkness.

In all 52 demand notes amount ranging from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 1 crores have been seized from the possession of the two slain persons besides recovering one M-20 pistol loaded with three ammunition and one .38 special pistol loaded with two bullets.

Some of the demand notes were signed by one commander in chief of KCP (MC) Lamyanba Khuman while the rest by district commander Chingsang-lakpa of the same outfit.

One of the slain persons is clad in white colour full-sleeve shirt, blue colour trousers and a pair of sandals while the other is clad in red colour full sleeve shirt, blue jean pant and a pair of sandals.

Both the bodies are kept at the mortuary of RIMS for identification.
