Imphal, August 07: Training its guns on the politicians, who are purportedly trying to take political mileage out of the present situation, HERICOUN today said that politicians like O Joy and Th Chaoba should wake up to the reality now.

In a statement, HERICOUN scoffed at the excuse cooked up by O Joy that he was misquoted by the media wherein he was reported to have stated that the Chief Minister had erred in declaring June 18 as a State holiday.

If the MPP president was misquoted, why didn't he say so when the report was first carried, countered the statement and added that the people will not be taken in by such deceits.

HERICOUN also questioned whether the MPP Working Committee will stop with just demanding the resignation of O Joy as the president of the party.

On the report submitted by the BJP Parliamentary team, the statement said that AS Ahluwaliah and his men announced that the Chief Minister had informed them that the NSCN (IM) was behind the economic blockade.

This more than shows that Th Chaoba had not briefed the BJP team earlier on the same line and added that there is no reason for him to feel smug and satisfied that the issue has been discussed on the floor of Parliament.

If Chaoba is really sincere about protecting the integrity of Manipur, then some action ought to have been taken up against the BJP MLAs who signed the memorandum endorsing the formation of a Greater Nagaland.

The MPCC (I) and its MLAs should also show some gumption and not allow their men to hide, added the statement.
