Lamka, September 06: Suspected PREPAK activists exploded a bomb at the Singjamei Mayengbam Leikai residential compound of one Moirangthem Biren (50) s/o Thabal at around 7.20 pm today while unidentified persons placed a bomb at the residence of an Engineer of the State's PWD.

According to police report no one got hurt or property damaged by the blast at Mayengbam Leikai while adding that a lever of Chinese hand-grenade had been recovered from the site.

The bomb landed/exploded about 15 feet from the entrance gate of M Biren, who owns Liberty Shoe store in Thangal bazar.

Biren disclosed that the banned PREPAK had in June this year demanded Rs 2 lakh and today's incident is the second after unidentified person/s fired two rounds at his residence on June 20. In another incident this evening (6.45) a non-Manipuri has been injured after he was fired upon by unidentified persons at Telipati area.

The injured is said to be one Sushil Kumar (16) s/o Bhagavat Prasad from Assam's Dergao village but currently staying at Telipati area where he works as a salesman of a grocery store.

Sushil has been admitted to Shija Hospital with a bullet wound on the right side of the buttock.

Unidentified persons placed a hand-grenade at the verandah of PWD's Assistant Engineer Md Islauddin (50) s/o (L) Mouluvi Moheijuddin of Lilong Haoreibi Makha Leikai Leirak Achouba.

The explosive device detected at around 7.45 am today was later recovered by police bomb experts.
