Imphal, February 03 2010: The identity of the two suspected UG cadres were shot dead by Imphal East District Police Commandos yesterday at the foothill of Nongmaiching near Kalika village have been established today.

The slain persons were Takhellambam Herojit alias Nanao alias Sailesh (22) s/o Krishnakumar of Serou Mayai Leikai and Irom Naobiton alias Malangba (25) s/o Ibocha of Taokhong Ayungba Mamang Leikai.

According to police, Herojit left home to join PREPAK in 1994 while Naobiton joined the same outfit 8 years back.

However, both became members of UPPK.

Besides recovering one 56 AK Rifles from their possession, the police commandos have also seized on M-16 Rifles, one lethode gun and assortment of ammunition from the site of the encounter, the police report added.
