Imphal, April 02 2009: Unidentified armed persons exploded a bomb at the Khongman Okram Chuthek residence of contractor Okram Megha (51) at around 9.55 pm yesterday.

Though none of the family members were injured in the bomb attack, three shops including that of a blacksmith located nearby suffered damage in the explosion which occurred near the gate of the house.

The electrical wiring put up about 20 feet above the ground has also been damaged in the explosion.

Irilbung PS under whose jurisdiction the incident took place have registered a case in this connection.

In protest against the bomb attack, people of the locality staged a Wakat Meepham at the market shed of Khongman Okram Chuthek.

Organised under the joint aegis of the Meira Paibis of Khongman Okram Chuthek, Ningombam Kit-na Panung and Ningombam Pebiya Pandit Leikai, the protest demonstration which was staged from 10 am to 5 pm.

Naharol Yaipha Thourang Club, Khongman Okram Chuthek and CRCL, Ningomthong Kitna Panung have strongly condemned the bomb attack.
