No let up in appeal to free kids

Imphal, January 02: The kidnapping of two kids from Senapati district by some unidentified miscreants continues to attract flaks from various quarters.

Senior Citizens Forum, Tamenglong, United Naga Council (UNC) and All Zeliangrong Students Union of Assam, Manipur and Nagaland (AZSU-AMN) have appealed to the kidnappers to release them safe and sound.

The two kids, students of Don Bosco School Senapati, were kidnapped on December 14.The Senior Citizens Forum, Tamenglong which is formed by retired IAS, MCS officers, public leaders and ex-Zeliangrong Union leaders, intellectuals and scholars of Tamenglong, has said that the abductors should consider the pains and trauma of the parents and relatives of the two kids and release them on humanitarian ground.

UNC said that the two kids have sufferred enough and they should be freed on humanitarian ground.

A ppealing to the kidnappers, UNC said that the two kids are innocent and they should not be made soft targets.

"Life is precious, therefore, the kids should be released right away at the hands of waiting parents, family members and the public".

The Zeliangrong Students Union (ZSU) of Assam, Manipur and Nagaland said that the abductors should understand that the kids are innocent.

AZSU also said that the emotional shock of the two kids will amount to traumatising the kids that its effect may stain forever in the minds of the two kids.

AZSU termed the abductors act as cowardice which will never be accepted by the people.

AZSU then appeals to the kidnappers to release the two kids safely to the parents at the earliest time.

Meanwhile, Chandel public protested kidnapping of ten year olds Muheni Martin and A Hriini Hubert by staging a mass rally at Pallel and sit-in-protest at the district headquarters as well as at Komlathabi (Kapaam) Bazar today.

The protests denouncing non-release of the two class III students of Don Bosco, senapati since December 14 last, was jointly organised by Chandel Naga Peoples' Organisation, Anal Naga Taangpi, Naga Women's Union Chandel, All Tribal Women Organisation, Chandel District Christian Forum and Chingtam Lup, Pallel.

Apart from vociferously condemning the kidnapping of the innocent children for ransom the rallyists also appealed for safe and early release of the missing duo.

A sit in protest against the kidnapping was also held today at Tangkhul Naga Long ground Ukhrul from 11am to 3pm, reports our correspondent.

Thousands of people from all walks of life participated in the protest which was led by Jillian from UNC, Stephen Angkang, president TNL, Yuimi Horam, President, TMNL, Silas J.Konghay, president, TSL, ANSAM, HKL and THYSO.

Many churches leaders and members including from Phungyo Baptist Church attended the protest by postponing their day schedule to extend solidarity to the family members of Mahuni Martin and Hubert Hriini.
