Imphal, March 30: While flatly rejecting the police claim that Akoijam Dineshore alias Dinesh (30) s/o A Kalachand of Thoubal Wangmataba is an over ground worker of the PREPAK, the outfit has denied demanding Rs 20,000 each from all the vehicles which took part in the rally organised in connection with the Heirok tragedy.

A statement issued by Thoubal district commander of the proscribed PREPAK Ajit Meitei maintained that Akoijam Dineshore who was pulled up by Thoubal police commandos from his home at about 11 am yesterday is not connected with the outfit or its Red Army.

Stating that two mobile phone handsets (one belonging to his wife) were with Dineshore when he was apprehended by the commandos, the outfit accused the police commandos of robbing the public by making false allegations of having links with UG groups.

To view and treat family members, parents and relatives of revolutionaries as UG cadres is an irrational and misplaced conception on the part of the police commandos, Ajit asserted.

He further reminded that the power being given to security forces including police commandos is not meant to harass and torture innocent civilians.

On the press statement of Heirok JAC's general Secretary L Mandir, the outfit clarified that the outfit demanded annual tax from all the bus/truck owners of the State but it never demanded Rs 20,000 each from the vehicle owners which took part in the Heirok rally.

The statement that the vehicle owners have been threatened to pay Rs 20,000 before March 29 noon is nothing but a gross exaggeration and a blatant lie, Ajit contended.

Stating that there is recording of the conversation between PREPAK cadres and secretary of the bus owners' association, the outfit declared any body may listen to the recording.

The party is deeply hurt by the Heirok tragedy, Ajit reiterated while asserting that it would not bring anything positive in the end for the JAC to make exaggerated statements and blatant lies taking advantage of the outfit's mistakes.

The JAC's general secretary should come out with concrete evidence in support of his statement about the alleged demand made by the PREPAK from the vehicle owners within three days.

In case he fails to produce evidences within the deadline, the party will mount a strict vigil over the activities of the JAC.

For the misleading statement of general secretary L Mandir which presents the PREPAK in wrong light, there is no guarantee that the party may not take up actions against him, concluded Ajit Meitei.
