Poll code violation slur on Tonsing, again

Lamka, February 22: INC candidate in CCpur AC and the incumbent IFC Minister Phungzathang Tonsing has been accused of concealing facts, suppressing material information and furnishing wrong information while swearing an affidavit before the Oath Commission.

A complaint lodged by an election agent of NPP Candidate V Langkhanpau Guite in a memo presented to the Chief Electoral Officer, Manipur, a copy of which is obtained by this correspondent claimed that the INC candidate Phungzathang Tonsing was furnishing wrong information while swearing affidavit for himself, his spouse and dependant relating to assets and dues or liabilities.

To substantiate his claim, H Thangdam, the NPP agent in his memo furnished eleven assets viz � Patta No.685, 1236, 745, 1753, 2675, 321, 2675, 2183, 2484, 2182 and 1792 with an area of 0.15 acres, 0.08 acres, 1.34 acres, 0.18 acres, 0.245 acres, 0.02 acres, 0.08 acres, 0.15 acres, 0.01 acres, 0.015 acres and 0.16 acres under the name (Pattadar) of T Phungzathang, his spouse Chhungi and son T Khanthang.

It also alleged that the total outstanding telephone dues and liabilities of the candidate, consumer no.260930 Bill No.21005154 and billing address at Sangaiprou Road, Paite Veng, Imphal as on 29 Jan 2007 payable to the BSNL, Manipur Telecom district is Rs 97129.The CEO is said to have instructed the authority concerned to probe the allegation and submit a finding immediately.

However despite the fact that V Dongzalian, Mandol and SK incharge was given the task to verify the said allegation, he has not submit any information nor any preliminary report to SDO/CCpur at the time of filing this report.
