Imphal, January 22: Imphal West Police Commandos shot dead a suspected UG at a place in between Heinoubok and Moirang Hanuba under Lamphel Police Station at around 7 pm today.

Information received by the press said that the suspected militant was coming on a Honda Activa bearing registration no.MN01M-0300, when the incident occurred.

The driving license recovered from the possession of the slain UG showed the name given as Laishram Ibobi s/o Mangi of Wangjing Sorokhaibam Leikai but staying at Sagolband Thokchom Leikai.

Police claimed to have recovered one hand-grenade from his possession and the same had been reportedly detonated by the bomb experts near the site of the incident at around 8.30 pm.

The slain UG was clad in grey coloured trousers and cream coloured shirt with a sweater on top.

He is bearded with cropped hair.

There were bullet marks all over his body.

Police have picked up the body and deposited the same at the mortuary of RIMS Hospital.
