Imphal, September 11: Condoling the demise of five cadres of the Cobra Task Force of the proscribed PREPAK in an operation launched by a joint team of the Army and police commandos in the adjoining nights of September 8 and 9 at Loktak lake, the outfit today said that the security forces managed to strike at the five cadres due to the specific information given by some fishermen.

In a statement issued by self styled secretary in charge of the department of publicity and propaganda of the outfit, Aheiba Angom, the outfit said that they have established the identities of the informers and warned that if they do not surrender to the party within seven days, they would be awarded capital punishment.

For any action taken up in this connection, the people of Toubul, Khoijuman, Kha Potshangbam and the adjoining villages should not mind, said the outfit.

When the security forces swooped down on the cadres, there were only a few of them as most of them had earlier moved to a different unit.

The five stayed behind due to some ailments, said the statement.

The five slain cadres have been identified as Okram Basanta alias Pamjaba (25) of Langathel Mamang Leikai (Corpl), Nongthombam Rosan alias Dipak (26) of Langathel Kunja Mamang (L/Corpl), Lalboy Thangjangam Kuki (18) of Moreh Ward number 1 (Pt), Maisnam Ranjit alias Nanao alias Thabung (21) of Jiribam Babukhan (Pt) and Sagolshem Joykumar alias Loktakngamba (38) of Lamphel Sanakeithel (Pt).

Cocking a snook at the DGP for stating that the backbone of the Cobra Task Force has been broken, the outfit said that said utterances are childish.

It is surprising that a DGP does not know the strength of PREPAK, said the statement and added that even the arms and ammos seized would not decrease their fire power.

In fact PREPAK can provide arms to the police, claimed the statement.

Since the killing of 5 cadres has prompted the DGP to say that the backbone of the CTF has been broken, then he would have to accept if the PREPAK claims that the back bone of the Army has been broken if ten personnel are killed by them.

The outfit also shared the grief and pain of the bereaved family members.
