Imphal, April 07: With the last date of filing nomination papers expiring today for the Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency, the total number of candidates for the Inner seat have risen to eight with four independent candidates filing their nomination papers today.

The four independent candidates are Lairenlakpam Raghumani of Charangpat, Nongmaithem Iboyaima of Khurai Konsam Leikai, Nongmaithem Homendro of Sagolband Salam Leikai and Waikhom Manimohan of Singjamei Oinam Thingel.

Mention may be made here that BJP's Th Chaoba, Congress Dr T Meinya, FPM's L Chandramani and CPI's Dr M Nara had filed their nomination papers immediately after the Returning Officer issued a notification on April 1 regarding the matter.

The scrutiny of the nomination papers will be held at the Imphal East DC office tomorrow at 11 am while the last date of withdrawing the nomination papers have been fixed on April 10.IE electorates: A total of 2,36,710 voters including 172 service voters would be exercising their franchise in 289 polling stations to be set up across the ten Assembly segments of Imphal East district in the forthcoming Lok Sabha election for Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency which is scheduled to be held on April 26.The voters include 1,12,943 male and 1,13,767 female.
