Imphal, December 04 2009: In a rare but extremely shocking criminal act, a man killed her own spouse and threw the lifeless body in an isolated field before surrendering to police together with his minor children.

Hidam Ibomcha (45) of Khongjom Awang Leikai, located about 6 kms North to Kakching police station killed his wife Konsam ningol Pishakmacha (42) by strangulating with a rope or similar object last night, said a police source.

Ibomcha surrendered to Thoubal police station together with his two sons and a daughter this morning.

On the disclosure of Ibomcha who confessed to his abominable crime, Thoubal police picked up the corpse of Pishakmacha from Angom paddy fields at about 9 am today.

A plastic rope was also recovered from near the spot.

Mark of strangulation was observed on Pishakmacha's neck.

Blood stains were also found near the corpse.

The spot where Pishakmacha's lifeless body was discovered is just about 1.5 km away from the couple's house.

Pishakmacha's elder brother Konsam Manglemba said, "we heard about frequent quarrel between the couple but we never interfered or intervened".

Two women, neighbours of Ibomcha, came asking for Pishakmacha at her maternal home today.

"But we told them she did not come", Manglemba said.

The corpse of Pishakmacha has been handed over to relatives after post mortem at Lilong PHC.

Kakching police have launched an investigation into the killing.

On the other hand, enraged by the outrageous murder, a group of local people vandalised the house of Ibomcha and set afire several articles found inside the house at the courtyard.
