Imphal, February 04: Election Commissioner T Krishnamurthy will arrive here on February 7 to over see the pre-poll security arrangements and other related arrangements, said an official source today.

Krishnamurthy is scheduled to meet high ranking Government officials and discuss the security arrangements during a meetini1 at the conference hall of Old Secretariat on February 8.The Commissioner will leave Imphal on February 9.Election observers for Imphal East, West, Thoubal and Bishnupur have started arriving since yesterday.

The observers will stay on till elections are held, official sources said.

Meanwhile CEO DS Poonia said that no reactions have been received from the respective DCs of the hill districts to the proposal of the ECI to open mobile polling booths and group together different polling stations in the hill constituencies.

Poonia said the ECI will be intimated tomorrow that no reactions from the respective DCs have been received with regard to the proposal of the ECI.

A security co-ordination meeting is also scheduled for tomorrow at the conference hall of Old Secretariat at 11 am, informed Poonia.

The meeting will be presided by the chief Secretary.

Ballot papers for the first phase election have been handed over to the ROs of 16 ACs till date.
