72-hour bandh in hill districts from April 6

Imphal, April 03 2010: The JAC for 2006/2009 Autonomous District Council DPC Faced Candidates' Parents and Guardians, Manipur today announced that they have decided to impose a 72 hour general strike across the five hill districts of the state to register protest against the government's attitude of keeping the DPC results undeclared for a long time.

The proposed 72-hour general strike will commence from midnight of April 6 and will go on till midnight of April 9, co-convener of the JAC, RS Khawungsing announced today threatening the government to follow by indefinite economic blockade on the two National Highway-39 and 53 with effect from next day (April 10) .

Speaking reporters at a press conference held at Manipur Press Club, Major Khul today, the co-convener recalled that authority conducted DPC for recruitment of teachers of schools under six ADCs and allowed to join 835 teachers declared success in the DPC.

But they were terminated from the job after nine months.

Fresh DPC for the recruitment of 3853 posts including the 835 posts of the terminated teachers was held in 2009 by an order of the government and the DPC result is not declare till date.
