Imphal, January 03: The All Manipur United Clubs' Organizations has stated that it welcomes and supports a peaceful settlement to the peace talk between the Govt of India and the NSCN (IM) and at the same time expressed hope that the solution to the Naga problem will not lead to anything that is injurious to the people of the NE region.

In a statement issued to the press today, AMUCO noted with regret that a number of politicians, individuals and voluntary organizations have been taking advantage of the peace talk to whip up communal distrust and encourage the divide and rule policy imposed in the region.

The statement further said that a number of politicians, individuals and some voluntary organizations have been playing with the sentiments of the people and whipping up communal tension and distrust just to capture power or remain in power.

It is precisely because of such games played by these elements that today communal tension and distrust, which was unheard of before in Manipur, has become a stark reality.

Such policies have been threatening the integrity of Manipur as well as the North East region.

Manipur's integrity has been protected by the numerous communities residing here for the last hundreds of years, said the statement and added that the integrity of Manipur can only be protected by all the communities who have been living together in peace and tranquility.

Self serving politicians, individuals and voluntary organizations will not work for the integrity of Manipur.

For the people of Manipur the need of the hour is to unitedly live together, develop together and meet the challenges together, philosophized, AMUCO.

To realize this, it is imperative that the people as a whole meet the challenges of communal politics collectively.

The time has come for all Communities of Manipur to shed narrow outlook and live together as one.
