Imphal, August 02: Demanding action against security force personnel involved in the killing of Meisnam Somen and Haorokcham Somendro besides insisting for release of the three arrested JAC members from police custody, agitated womenfolk of Kumbi and surrounding areas today stormed the gate of Kumbi Police Station.

At around 2 pm, a large number of womenfolk took out a rally from Kumbi Bazar in protest against the killing of Somen and Somendro.

While shouting slogans decrying killing of innocent persons and demanding punishment of security personnel involved in killing innocent people, the agitated womenfolk marched upto the gate of the police station.

When the police personnel tried to stop them and snatch the banners and festoons being carried, a confrontation ensued.

The situation went out of control when the agitated womenfolk shook the gate along with increasing the pitch of their slogan shouting on hearing one of the police personnel directing them that they could not go back on the same road they had come.

Today's protest demonstration was organised jointly by Kumbi Apunba Nupi Lup, Kumbi Arong Nongmaikhong Ithai Wapokpi Nupi Lup and Bishnupur District Apunba Nupi Lup, Kumbi Branch.

Later talking to mediapersons, secretary of Bishnupur District Apunba Nupi Lup, Kumbi Branch Romabati warned that in case the Government remains indifferent to the democratic agitation and demands of the people, they might be compelled to take recourse to other more intense agitations.
