Imphal, June 29: All the five persons shot dead by combined forces at two different places in Thoubal district and at another place in Imphal East district yesterday have been identified.

Two AK assault rifles were later recovered from the spot by Thoubal police.

So far, three corpses have been claimed by respective families after post mortem at RIMS today.

The duo shot dead by a combined force of Thoubal district commandos and troops of 34 Assam Rifles at Ukhongshang Mamang Leikai last afternoon have been identified as Laishram Naocha alias Pamheiba (26) s/o Ibobi of Changangei Ucheckon Mayai Leikai and Huidrom Brojen (34) s/o Amu of Ukhongshang Mamang Leikai.

It is reported that Naocha alias Pamheiba was an active member of the proscribed RPF/PLA.

He was a married man having a child.

The other two slain in a shoot-out with a combined force of Thoubal commandos and troops of 34 AR at Langmeithek last night have been identified as Laishram Bhagat alias Bomba (28) of Sekmaijin Hangul and Asem Ibochouba (27) of Sekmaijin Khoidum.

Even as police claimed that both were cadres of PREPAK, local people asserted that Ibochouba was a driver.

According to Thoubal SSP Clay Khongsai, two AK rifles, two magazines containing 12 and 10 live rounds respectively and another 30 live rounds of AK ammos were recovered from the encounter site.

It further explained that the encounter ensued when the combined team moved in Langmeithet Khunou acting on specific information that some PREPAK cadres responsible for the firing incident at a Thabal Chongba venue at Heirok on March 24 were loitering in and around Langmeithet area.

While the security personnel were cordoning the area, the UG cadres opened fire from inside a house resulting in the shoot-out which lasted for about 10 minutes, it recounted.

On the other hand, the identity of the man shot dead by a combined team of Imphal East commandos and troops of 32 AR at Kyamgei Thongkhong last night has been established as Hijam Sanjoy (27) s/o late Olen of Thangmeiband Hijam Dewan Leikai but staying at Porompat.

According to family members, he went out from home only yesterday.

The corpses of Naocha alias Pamheiba, Bhagat alias Bomba and Ibochouba have been handed over to their respective families today.
