Imphal, April 28: Taking strong exception to the ban on entry of all vehicles including two wheelers into Imphal bazar area in the aftermath of the bomb blast at Babupara and discovery of another explosive just outside pologround, the CPI Imphal City District has decided to launch intense agitation in case the ban is not lifted by April 30 .

Speaking to reporters at Irabot Bhavan this afternoon, CPI Imphal City District Council secretary Th Manglem observed that the ban on entry of vehicles into Imphal bazar area has been not only causing severe hardships to the people who are earning their livelihood in the bazar but also causing severe deterrence to the functioning of Government and private offices located in Paona bazar and Thangal bazar area.

Vehicles being kicked down by cops to beef up security !

The State Cabinet's amateurish decision to ban entry of vehicles in bazar area is no guarantee that there will be no bomb explosions in bazar area in future, he contended.

The act of causing severe inconveniences to the people because of lapses and negligence on the part of security forces is an anti-people policy.

If the Government is determined to ban entry of vehicles into Khwairamband bazar for good, a permanent parking lot should be arranged first, he asserted.

The ban is indirectly causing price hike as transportation charge from Khwairamband bazar to parking lots costs much higher now.

This is adding to the woes of the public at a time when there is a country wide campaign against inflation, he noted.

Alleging that the Government's decision is a direct threat to basic human rights, Manglem cautioned that intense agitation will be launched if the ban is not lifted by April 30 .

While decrying the ban on entry of vehicles in Khwairamband bazar, the All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) has suggested for strengthening security apparatus and intelligence network to avert unwanted incidents like bomb blast in future.
