Imphal, July 15: Yet another migrant worker was shot dead by unidentified gunmen today at about 8.20 pm at Thangmeiband Polem Leikai near Lupa Marup under Imphal police station.

The deceased is identified as Hari Laxmi (36) from Muzzafarpur district of Bihar and staying on rent at the residence of one Yumnam Ibomcha.

The late man was a carpenter by profession, said family members of the landlord.

He was shot dead near the gate of the rented house.

Earlier in the day a combined team of Imphal West district police commandos and troops of 12 Maratha Light Infantry gunned down two suspected armed cadres at Samurou Maning Leikai under Wangoi police station.

According to police sources, the security personnel who were on patrolling duty at the specified location at around 6.40 pm observed about five persons moving suspiciously near a wooden bridge constructed over Nambul river.

After a brief encounter followed by searches two bodies were found on the western end of the bridge, the sources maintained adding that the deceased are likely to be KYKL cadres.

One 9 mm pistol with three live rounds and a .36 high explosive hand grenade have been recovered from the possession of the deceased duo.

The bodies are kept at RIMS morgue.

Army man's spouse commits suicide : The wife of an army personnel, who is currently posted in the 302 Company of Army Supply corps of the 59 Mountain Division headquarters, Leimakhong succumbed to burn injuries on July 14 night.

According to information, 28 year old Rina Muarya, wife of Shiv Kumar (Naik) set herself on fire after dousing with kerosene oil at their quarters on July 13 evening and passed away the next day.

The body has been handed over to family members after post mortem at RIMS morgue today.
