Imphal, May 13: Cocking a snook at the victory of Congress candidate Dr T Meinya from the Inner seat, BJP Legislature wing leader and former Chief Minister RK Dorendra said that the Congress won the election because it resorted to mass scale rigging and proxy voting.

The low turn out due to the ban imposed on the election process is also another reason for the Congress' victory, he proclaimed.

Speaking to The Sangai Express Dorendra said that the Congress used muscle and money power and managed to turn the diktats into their advantage.

To a question why the BJP has not fared as expected despite the India Shining slogan and the feel good factor associated with the NDA Govt, Dorendra said that these messages were not conveyed effectively to the grass root level.

FPM leader and vice president Prof Gangmumei Kamei said that the result canot be seen as the mandate of the people as there were restrictions from different quarters.

He said that in the early part of the day of polling the voters' turn out was low but it saw a marked increase in the evening.

This says something, he added.

MPP president O Joy said that this time round the poll process was not an election but a selection process.
