Imphal, July 11: Contending that inconsiderate attitude and miscalculation of Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh is the main factor for the current upheaval in the State, the Manipur State Congress Party (MSCP) observed that election of a new leader to head the SPF Ministry is the only way restore order in the hill districts.

Referring to the ANSAM agitation demanding revocation of June 18 as State Holiday, the MSCP opined that the CM had committed a grave mistake by not visiting the trouble torn districts where his personal attention is highly necessary.

The preference of O Ibobi to remain in the comfort of Imphal and make regular appeal reflects lack of responsibility on the part of the CM, the party said while charging O Ibobi of creating trouble by not consulting the State Cabinet for such an important announcement.

Such individualistic approach of the CM tantamount to ignoring the sentiments and aspirations of the hill people who now feel insecure under the leadership of Ibobi.

The fact that Ministers representing the hill people could not control the flames engulfing the hill districts also says something about the Govt.Reiterating that resignation of O Ibobi and replacement with a new incumbent as the CM could subside agitation in the hill districts, the MSCP also prevailed upon ANSAM to relax the ongoing economic blockade so that essential commodities and medicines could be brought in.
