Report dubs NH-53 work progress �not appreciable�

Imphal, August 10: Underlining the importance of developing national Highway 53, especially strengthening of bridges located in between Jiribam to Barak, a joint inspection team comprising of Ministers and ruling MLAs has submitted its report to the Chief Minister.

The team led by Power/H&SC/IPR Minister Gaikhangam and accompanied by MOBC Minister Md Allaudin and MLAs N Biren and Bijoy Koijam reached Jiribam on August 8 evening and left the same day for Imphal, said a press statement.

The team returned to Imphal on August 9 morning.

Describing the road from Jiribam till Barak Bridge as �worst� and suggesting strengthening of bridges within this portion to enable movement of loaded vehicles, the report forwarded to the Chief Minister indicated signs of improvement of the road since resumption of work by the BRTF.

Significantly, the report termed as �not appreciable� the progress of ongoing repairing work on this NH while applauding the personal assessment conducted by Governor Dr SS Sidhu as well as security cover provided by the Army, para-military and state police force.
