Imphal, February 10: Despite the Chandel district administration already announcing transportation arrangement from specific locations to enable displaced villagers of Khengjoi area cast their votes at Holenjang and laijang polling stations, Dingpi Area Development and peace Committee has drawn the attention of the Election Commission of India to increase number of the polling stations.

A press release issued by chairman of the Committee expressed apprehension that around 4787 voters from 41 villages of Dingpi and Khengjoi areas would be unable to exercise their franchise rights in case more polling stations are not established.

Explaining on the matter, the Committee contended that travelling to the relocated polling stations in Holenjang and Laijang would require atleast a day of walking on foot that passing through certain areas which even security forces are reluctant to travel.

Like in previous elections polling stations be established at Sehlon, Wayang, Molngat, Yangoulen, Molchang, New Samtal and Changpol to ensure easy accessibility, suggested the Committee.
