Imphal, April 08: With the Engineering Departments calling off their stir, which was launched after Assistant Engineer K Nabachandra was shot dead, the road tarring work at Thangal bazar, Khoyathong and adjoining areas has started today in full swing with the Works Minister K Ranjit supervising the works after obtaining relaxation permission from the curfew restrictions.

The decision to call off the agitation was taken in the interest of the State and following assurances from the Government to provide security so that such incidents do not recur, said a source and added that the assurance of the Government was given during a meeting between the Chief Minister and Chief Engineers of the PWD, IFCD, Power, MI and PHED.

Following the decision of the Engineers, works have resumed at Thangal bazar, MG Avenue, Khoyathong etc after getting the necessary relaxation from the curfew which is in force from 9 pm.
