Imphal, April 05: Out of nine Central election observers assigned to look after poll preparations to enforce the Model Code of Conduct for the 14th Lok Sabha election in Manipur, five have arrived at Imphal today, said Returning Officer Y Surchandra.

Surchandra, who is also the Imphal West Deputy Commissioner, informed that individuals, public leaders and political parties willing to meet the poll officials may do so at Hotel Imphal from 5 pm onwards.

The observers have been deputed by the Election Commission of India to assess and oversee pre-election arrangements and ensure proper implementation of the code of conduct for the two phase poll on April 20 and 26 in the State.

The five observers who arrived today have been assigned their respective areas of jurisdiction.

KS Pathania will look after polling stations spread across Bishnupur district, Outer constituencies of Thoubal district will be SK Deb's concern while SP Marwah will look after Inner constituencies in the same district.

For polling stations in Imphal West and East, Ujjval Uke will be in charge and Pramod Dutta for Senapati district.
