Imphal, September 04: A JAC has been formed against the killing of one Akbijam Dinesh of Thoubal Wangmataba by police commandos of Thoubal district at near Thoubal Ningombam Mini Stadium last evening.

Prior to a public meeting held this afternoon at a local ground near Thoubal Hospital, a JAC delegation called on the Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh to deliberate on the killing but failed to reach any agreement.

The JAC statement insisted that Dinesh was actually picked up from Thoubal Parking and killed at Thoirbal Ningombam.

Resolutions adopted at the meeting demanded a Judicial inquiry and punishment of the guilty commando personnel, to launch series of agitation and not to claim the body till the matter has been amicably settled, to stage sit-in-protest from 10 am tomorrow till 5 pm of September 6 near the Thoubal Hospital gate, to enforce indefinite general strike and shut down Government offices in the entire Thoubal district areas, besides demanding that AFSPA 1958 be repealed from the district in order to reign in trigger-happy commandos.

The meeting also grimly noted that police commandos had been indulging in killing of civilians with false claims that the individuals are victims of encounter, a JAC statement added.

Meanwhile, identity of the person slain by Thoubal police commandos along with Ak Dinesh has been established as one Takhelchangbam Sanayai Sharma alias Chaoren (29) s/o (L) Babuchaoba of Mutum Phibou.

Sanayai is informed to have joined the PREPAK organization about a year back.

Post mortem of Sanayai was conducted at Lilong PHC today after being shifted from RIMS morgue.

Three more bodies are still lying at RIMS morgue as their identities could not be established.

The bodies include two suspected UG cadres gunned down by troops of 1 Assam Rifles on September 2 at Nambashi village of Kasom Khullen sub-division in Ukhrul district and one individual slain on September 1 by a combined team at Khollong village (Senapati district) along the NH-53.
