Two UG suspects slain

Imphal, June 02 2009: Two suspected UG cadres have been slain in a reported encounter with troops of 20 AR on Maipi-Angbrasu track under Tengnoupal police station of Chandel district last night.

The encounter ensued when troops of 20 AR, acting on a specific information, launched search operation in the area.

According to an AR PRO release, the AR troops observed two individuals moving on Maipi-Angbrasu track at about 9.30 pm.

On being challenged, the individuals opened fire and tried to flee away taking advantage of thick foliage.

The troops who were lying in ambush came out to the flank of the militants and shot dead both the UG cadres.

One G-3 rifle, two magazines, three live rounds, one lathode and two lathode bombs were recovered from the suspected UG cadres, the PRO added.

The two corpses have been deposited at RIMS mortuary, informed a police source.

Meanwhile, a press release issued by Tengnoupal police station described one of the deceased to be slim, with round face and black hair.

He was 5'3" in height and was wearing white shirt, coffer colour pants and jungle boots.

The ears were pierced.

The other has elongated face, black hair, pierced ears an slim body.

He was 5'5" in height and was wearing black T-shirt, brown pants and jungle boots.

He also wore a logun (sacred thread).
