Imphal, May 02: The BJP has claimed that it possesses enough documental and circumstantial evidences to prove that Independent candidate for the Outer Manipur Parliamentary constituency Mani Charenamei was sponsored by the NSCN (IM), according to a statement issued by BJP's convenor Ashinpou Gangmei.

Claiming the BJP is fully aware of Charenamei's connection with the underground Organization while he was posted as DFO in Ukhrul district, the convenor termed the Independent candidate's allegation against the party nominee D Loli Adanee as merely the 'Devil quoting the Bible'.

It is Charenamei who is committing all the malpractices with his armed cohorts, claimed the BJP.

The statement further contended that Loli Adanee's expression of anguish and sympathy regarding the Nganiju incident should not be viewed as tendering an apology by the BJP candidate.

For the present election State unit of the BJP established contact or entered into agreements with only bonafide and legal Organizations representing a particular tribe or community and never reached an understanding with anti-national elements, maintained the statement.

The BJP statement said, "It is not in our culture to indulge in underhand dealings with shady Organizations to hijack the mandate of the people.

We will enter Parliament honourably rather than pollute the sanctity of the Parliament through sinful or short-cut means".

Charging NSCN (IM) cadres of committing atrocities against sincere BJP workers at the behest of Mani Charenamei, the BJP convenor asserted that so called 'peaceful polling' was due to one side being excluded forcibly by armed miscreants from taking part in the election process.

Denial of entry to media-persons into polling area is a clear proof of trying to hide misconduct from the public gaze, contended the convenor.

The statement also termed floating of certain bodies that pledged support to Charenamei as an election gimmick to serve a specific purpose and not intent on launching Manipur towards prosperity and peace.
