Imphal, January 02: A few rounds of shots were fired at the residence of one Takhellambam Guneshwar alias Inao (39) of Chingmeirong Maning Leikai at about 9.20 last night.

Some unidentified persons fired two rounds at the residence of Inao when he and his family members were warming themselves in the verandah of their house around a charcoal grate.

As one of the bullet hit a brick wall, the other pierced through a bamboo mat wall and landed on a table in the adjacent room.

There was no casualty in the firing.

Asking all concerned to give up the practice of making false allegations after killing an individual, Guneshwar appealed to the assailants to give a convincing explanation about the armed attack.

Inviting the assailants to talk face to face if they have anything against him, Guneshwar appealed to the authorities to probe the incident.

On the other hand, strongly condemning the incident, members and Meira Paibis of the Awang Naharsol Seva Dal (ANSD), Chingmeirong Maning Mamang Nupi Kanglup Association and Chingmeirong Maning Shinglup staged a protest sitting near Chingmeirong oil pump today.

It is reported that Th Guneshwar is general secretary of the Awang Naharol Seva Dal Club.
