UNC meet rescheduled

Imphal, April 30: Even as the UNC is currently engaged in a peace campaign after the Wungram incident, the meeting scheduled on April 26 to discuss the resignation letter tendered by its president Paul Leo, the meeting has been tentatively scheduled to midMay.

Paul, owning moral responsibility for the defeat of five UNC sponsored candidates in the recently held 9th Assembly elections and citing other reasons including health tendered his resignation on April 16.Talking to The Sangai Express, UNC publicity secretary S Milan said, "Though his resignation is yet to be discussed, Paul is still our president".

As a team of UNC including president Paul Leo has been campaigning for peace in the aftermath of the Wungram incident, the scheduled meeting on April 26 had to be postponed, Milan said.

A felicitation function for the successful UNC sponsored candidates will also be held in mid May, he said adding that the venue will be possibly at Senapati.

To a query, Milan informed that the UNC has been going on with its non-cooperation movement against the State Government but at the moment it is not pursuing any specific programme.
