Protest held against bomb attack at Congress office

Imphal, April 13 2009: Decrying the bomb explosion at Mayang Imphal Kendra Congress office last night which injured to at least three people, villagers and meira paibis of the Mayang Imphal and its surrounding areas staged a sit-in protest today.

Circle MLA of the Mayang Imphal Assembly constituency, Dr Kh Ratankumar who also took part in the sit-in protest talking to reporters said threatening and attacking will not bring an fruitful result observing that in a democratic country any problems can be solved in a democratic way.

It is wrong to inflict injuries to the innocent civilians who are not related with the opening of the Congress office.

Injuring the innocent people will bring any benefits, he said.

It's a challenged to the people and people must condemned univocally, Ratankumar said adding that government should also try it best to find out a lasting solution with the underground organizations through a negotiating table.

He also expressed suspect of some political parties colluding with the underground in the attack as the attack targeted only to a particular political party, the Congress.

Slogans like "We condemn political terrorism, violence has no meaning, don't suppressed people's voice by gun, don't blast bomb in the residential areas, etc." at the protest said.
