Imphal, November 12 2009: One suspected UG has been gunned down by a combined team of Thoubal police commandos and 34 Assam Rifles today at Moijing village, according to a press release issued by the Superintendent of Police, Thoubal district, Manipur.

However, the police press note did not mention the organisation to which the suspected UG belonged to.

It stated that the security forces conducted a search operation after receiving specific information at Thoubal Moijing towards Ningombam, when one suspected cadre was shot down while the other managed to escape taking the advantages of darkness.

The encounter lasted for about 5 minutes.

On further search operation one 9mm pistol, one magazine loaded with three live rounds of 9mm, one leather wallet containing of a sum of Rs.125, 11 empty cases of AK ammunittion and 3 empty cases of 9 mm ammunition were recovered from the slain militant, according to the police press release.
