Imphal, July 06 2010: With no sign of improvement in the condition of the National Highway-53, around 150 oil tankers out of around 350 registered under Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) are still reluctant in plying along this route.

According to the manager of the IOC oil depot at Chingmeirong, only around 200 oil tankers registered under IOC are currently in the service of lifting petroleum products.

So, steps would be taken up very soon to seize the oil tankers which are still refusing to report for duty.

The loaded oil tankers that have reported and were stationing at the 2nd IRB campus inside Khuman Lampak for the last few days unloaded their content in the depot yesterday.

Following this, the current stock position of petrol in depot is 467 kilolitres while that of SK oil and diesel are respectively 297 kilolitres and 1270 kilolitres, the manager informed.

The manager further informed that there are around 100 stranded oil tankers at Jiribam.

When these stranded oil tanker reached Imphal, the problem of fuel shortage being faced by the people would be eased to some extent.
