Imphal, June 29: Two suspected UG cadres were killed in a reported encounter with Imphal East commandos at Yaralpat Imurok, Tinsid road under Porompat police station at about 3.10 pm today.

According to police sources, the encounter ensued when the commando team who were already there at the spot asked two youths coming on a motorcycle to halt.

Instead of' bringing the motorcycle to a halt, the youths opened fire towards the commando personnel who swiftly retaliated.

One motorcycle (Yamaha), one 9 mm pistol and a hand grenade were recovered from the spot, informed the source.

The two corpses which bore multiple bullet marks have been picked up by police and deposited at RIMS mortuary.

The ears of both the de-ceased were not pierced.

In another incident a UG suspect was snot dead by Imphal East police commandos today at about 7.30 pm on the road leading from Porompat to JN Hospital.

One Honda Activa and one hand grenade were recovered from the slain youth.

The body has been deposited at RIMS morgue for identification and necessary procedures.

UG cadres held: Combined teams of Imphal East commandos and troops of 32 AR apprehended a PLA cadre and a KYKL activist in two separate incidents yesterday, informed a release issued by SP Imphal East Th Radheshyam.

The PLA cadre identified as Nongmeikapam Shanta alias Senapati alias Ranger Singh (36) s/o N Yeka of Pebiya Pandit Leikai was apprehended from his residence at about 7.30 am.

On verification, Shanta disclosed that he joined PLA in 1998 and underwent military training at Burma.

He was working under one S/S Sgt Maj Joychandra of PLA before he was arrested, he disclosed.

The KYKL cadre was also nabbed from his residence located at Heirangoithong Maibam Leikai at about 6.30 am.

He is identified as Lairenjam Romen alias Ronendro alias Tomba (22) s/o late L Ranbir.

Joining KYKL in 2006, he was working under the command of one S/S Capt Khuman of KYKL, conveyed the release.

Meanwhile, SSP of Imphal West L Kailun informed that one KCP (City Meitei) activist identified as Laishram Bobby alias Prem (32) s/o L Samphaba of Mayang Imphal Thana Maning Leikai was arrested by Imphal West commandos from his locality at about 1.10 pm today.
