Imphal, October 27 2009: With reference to the recent attack launched by NSCN (IM) cadres against PLA members at Bohoram Tangkhul village in Kasom sub Division, the proscribed UNLF has alleged NSCN has violated globally accepted norms of granting amnesty to injured combatants.

Elaborating on the allegation, a UNLF statement issued today by its Senior Publicity Officer Ksh Yoiheiba said some Bohoram villagers were escorting an injured PLA cadre out of the village some days later when the wounded combatant was snatched and slain by the NSCN (IM) cadres.

While describing as sorrowful casualties suffered by PLA, Yoiheiba condemned the manner in which the injured PLA was slain and reminded the NSCN (IM) organisation that battles are also fought within a principle that the wounded combatants should be given treatment opportunity.

Opining that the particular incident is yet another manifestation of the NSCN (IM) organisation's decaying morale and myopic principle, he also asserted that UNLF/MPA do not view cadres of the NSCN (IM) as enemies and have no intention to cause harm to them.

The only qualm UNLF has against the NSCN (IM) is the ethno-exclusive policy being patronaged by the Naga rebel group's leadership as such a concept undermines the essence of fraternal bond amongst indigenous people of the region, Yoiheiba maintained with the reiteration that UNLF had in the past proved beyond doubt that it has no ill-will against NSCN (IM) cadres.

Substantiating the claim, he cited release of three NSCN (IM) cadres in February 2006 after the trio had fallen to the hands of UNLF cadres at Saibol village in Chandel district.

Yoiheiba also conveyed UNLF's condolence on the loss of three PLA cadres in the Bohoram incident.
