At least 7 SF men killed : UNLF

Imphal, November 25: Claiming that cadres of the 293 Bn of the MPA have been successfully thwarting the attempt of the India security forces to over run Dingpi area, the UNLF today claimed that at least 7 security personnel have been killed in different encounters.

In a statement, the outfit said that a fierce gun fight ensued today at Dingpi are at 12.25 pm.

The security forces were trying to make their way to Changjal village but were driven back by the MPA cadres.

Four security personnel were killed while many others were injured, it claimed.

Another encounter ensued between the security forces and MPA cadres while the former was trying to march to Tuitung village from Moljang.

The MPA did not suffer any casualty.

Earlier on November 6, MPA cadre destroyed a camp of the security force at Aishi village near Sajik Tampak, claimed the outfit and added that a camp of the 1 AR was also attacked by a team of 241 Bn MPA on November 23 at Nambisha in Ukhrul district.

At the moment, a large number of security personnel have been pressed into service at Khengjoi and Dingpi area, said the statement and recalled the series of intense confrontations in the same area last year.

Even now, three AR Bns have been requisitioned from Mizoram for the latest offensive, asserted the outfit.

The security forces have not been able to make any headway with some turning back.

The outfit has also strongly refuted the allegations of the SF that their cadres have fled to Myanmar.

For the last few years, the security forces have been trying to drive out the UNLF from the said area, but all their efforts have failed.

Spy planes were even used.

The repeated failures have frustrated the higher ups of the Indian security force no end, it claimed and added that the MPA cadres are ready to fight till the end.
