Accused duo in Lungnila case file applications

Imphal, August 23: In a new twist to the Lungnila Elizabeth kidnap and murder case, two persons accused in the said case have filed separate applications on different ground before the Court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal.

While one individual from Imphal West, accused of abducting Lungnila from her Little Flower School on November 4, 2003, prayed before the Court to allow company of a lawyer with him during CBI interrogation another of the accused hailing from Loktak Project area, contested his implication in the murder case pleading innocence.

for the accused from Imphal West, who reportedly feared physical grilling by the CBI interrogators, the Court set September 5 for further hearing, said a source.

The source also informed of the Court rejecting application of the second accused from Loktak Project area who had earlier faced lie detection test along with the prime accused James Kuki.

The second applicant is charged of calling up Lungnila's family on ransom matters.

The CBI is likely to depute a team here on September 3 or 4.Mention may be made that the CBI had filed an application to the Additional CJM for cancellation of bail granted to two other accused persons on ground that they have not cooperated in the investigation.

The CBI petition would also come up for hearing on September 5.Lungnila Elizabeth, daughter of the then Education Minister Francis Ngajokpa, was abducted from her school with her body recovered from Tera Shadokpam Leikai on November 12.
