Imphal, January 19: To strengthen the bond of unity and ensure territorial integrity of Manipur, the All Manipur United Clubs' Organization is set to start its third phase of the campaign.

Speaking to newsmen at the Manipur Press Club this evening, AMUCO president Jagat Thoudam said that the campaign will centre around two main points.

The first is to 'defeat any attempt by the Indian Government to break up Manipur' and the second is 'to strengthen the relations amongst various communities in Manipur'.

India which came into being only in 1950 does not have the power to tamper with the boundary of Manipur which has a long history of 2000 years, said Jagat Thoudam.

The differences of opinion and ideas that have cropped up between different communities living in the North East will be settled by the people themselves through discussion and dialogue, added the AMUCO president.

No outside elements will be allowed to interfere in the internal affairs of the people of the North East region, he continued.

It is also the aim and aspirations of AMUCO to strengthen the unity of all the people of the North East region for a secure future.

The third phase of the campaign will go on until the stated objectives of thrashing out the differences amongst the various communities living in Manipur through dialogue and discussion is achieved, added Thoudam.

As part of the third phase a mass campaign will be launched not only in Manipur but also in the North East region with the support and co-operation of the people, said the president.

The mass campaign will centre around discussion with leaders and individuals, camera and public meeting, seminars and workshop, wall poster and leaflet campaign and discussion on "North East India-Reality and Perspective' at the State, Regional, National and International level.
