Imphal, December 13: Under the continuing Operation Red Sun, the proscribed PLA's 101 Mobile Bn A Coy launched an intense attack against a combined force of AR's 18 Bn, 20 Bn and KNA at about 5 am today.

The fighting continued a little later than 11 this morning.

Wireless message intercepted by the PLA has confirmed that there have been several casualties on the part of the combined force.

A statement issued by RPF's Assistant Secretary of Communication and Publicity Lily Leima detailed the attacks and ambushes its armed wing PLA undertook since the Operation Red Sun was launched.

At around 6.30 am of December 2, PLA's Auxiliary Force attacked BSF camp located at Ithai.

At about 8 pm of December 1, PLA's 252 Mobile Bn attacked a troop of Assam Rifles at Aigeyang village in Chandel district.

On November 28 about 9 am, a BSF patrol party coming in two bullet-proof vehicles was attacked at Yairipok Pichi Chinglak under Thoubal district.

At about 10 am of November 27, a patrol party of 9 AR was ambushed by 252 mobile Bn in between Zoukhonum and Taikotang villages under Singhat sub-division of Churachandpur district.

In the gun fight, three AR personnel were killed and 7 others injured.

Unable to retrieve the corpses amidst the heavy shoot-out, the Assam Rifles retrieved the corpses only after PLA cadres have left the place.

There was no casualty on the part of the PLA.

Following information that some BSF personnel have been harassing the people of Oksu, 253 Reserve Battalion A Coy in association with some selected cadres of Auxiliary Force planted a bomb for the BSF convoy.

As the PLA cadres were waiting for the BSF convoy, a convoy approached the spot and the bomb was set off just as the rear most approached the spot.

But unfortunately the convoy turned out to be the convoy of MLA Th Shyamkumar.

Saying that not a single shot was fired on the day, RPF refuted the allegation of MLA Shyamkumar that his team was fired upon heavily.

In the morning of November 25, there was a heavy fighting between a section of 252 Mobile Bn and a troop of 9 AR at Taikot Khuman under Singhat sub-division.

There was some casualty on the side of AR, informed Lily. At about 11 am of November 25, PLA attacked the camp of 34 AR at Yairipok.

On November 20, a team of PLA's Auxiliary Force encountered a team of Imphal West commandos on their way.

To save themselves, the PLA cadres had to open fire against the commandos against its principle of refraining from attacking State forces.

In the incident, two civilians coming with the PLA cadres to show them their way felled into the hands of commandos.

One of the two from Sekmaijing was murdered by the commandos without any remorse, disclosed Lily Leima.

At about 7.23 pm of October 31, a platoon of 252 mobile Bn attacked a newly opened camp of 7/8 GR at Khongkhai village under Singhat sub-division.

In addition to causing several casualties to the security forces, extensive damage was done to the camp, it said.

On November 20, a bomb trap laid by a combined team of 253 A-Coy and Auxiliary Force in between Gwaltabi and Mahadeva targeting a security convoy had to be aborted as the villagers were walking around the spot besides a troop of Assam Rifles coming to the spot with some civilians amongst them.

The bomb was set off before the target reached the site.

In a remarkable improvement of its explosive warfare, "Wire-Guided Bomb" developed by the PLA has been successfully tested.

The new device is specifically designed to counter the three types of frequency jammer currently used by security forces, added Lily Leima.
