Imphal, April 12: In connection with the killing of Laishram ningol Laimujam ongbi Inaothoibi alias Shantibala at Tekcham under Kakching police station in the night of April 9, a suspect has been pulled up by police for questioning.

The suspect identified as Chungkham Nitai (40) s/o Ch Raghumani of Tekcham Mayai Leikai was pulled up this morning.

However, two other individuals suspected to be involved in the killing have gone into hiding.

The two absconding suspects are identified as Khundongbam Surjit alias Ibomcha (28) s/o Natum of Tekcham Mayai Leikai and Nongthombam Ibomcha of Wangbal.

Nongthombam Ibomcha is the younger brother of the wife of Soibam Deben who lives next door to Shantibala.

Besides intense interrogation of Ch Nitai, police have also launched a massive man hunt of the absconding suspects.

One dies in mishap: In a tragic mishap, a 36 year old woman travelling on a tractor died on the spot after falling from the tractor at Tumsao village in Churachandpur district at about 4.30 am today.

The deceased woman is identified as Chindeiding.

Three other women and a man travelling on the same tractor also sustained injuries.

The corpse has been handed over to family members after completing post mortem at Churachandpur district hospital.

One shot dead: In an encounter with Imphal West Commandos, one person has been killed at Nagamapal Kangjabi at around 6.40 this evening.

According to information received from Police, the slain individual reportedly came with two others on a Honda Activa.

While one was killed in the encounter, the other two managed to escape.

One .32 pistol, two live rounds and an RC book were recovered from the spot, informed Police sources.

According to the RC book, the Honda Activa belongs to one Thiyam Somokanta of Nambol Bazar.
